Nuclear Mystics Buckle. 6 years in the making

This is a project that was very ambitious when i first started working on it in 2015. It was before i had gotten the current tools i use, and i was working with a completely different skillset back then I was also living in a converted barn in Sebastopol, CA. I finished almost 7 years later the same week my daughter was born. Picking it up again after putting it down for so many years was such a treat to meet it with new eyes and new skills. This project was completed for my friend and favorite weirdo at The Chambers Project, if you don’t know him check out The Chambers Project and all the good psychedelic work he is bringing to the masses.

Below you will find images of the process of making the wax through to casting and finishing. We cast this buckle in 18k rose and yellow gold along with .925 sterling silver. This whole process was particularly challenging because of the size and weight of the metals that we were casting. Not only that, BUT the fact that there were over 300 hours into the wax alone made the whole situation a little more thrilling.

Here is the complete casting process done with my good friend and talented casting master Steven Godwin. The mastermind behind Molecular Magic Casting
